Salad lovers listen up! Have you ever opened up your veggie drawer and saw a sad head of lettuce? Wilted and droopy are two words you never like to hear. 😉 So this is how you perform salad CPR. Fill a bowl with ice cold water and soak your lettuce (or any other vegetable(s) for that matter, carrots, celery, etc) let them sit there and soak for a few minutes. The cold water bath helps rehydrate the plant cells, and the leaves will bounce right back to their original crispness.
If using it for a salad make sure the leaves are dry otherwise the dressing won’t coat it, it will just slide right off. If you’re going to store it again, dry the greens then wrap them in a paper towel and place in a zip lock bag in the crisper drawer. You’ll be surprised how long they keep this way!(But hopefully you’re using lettuce leaves more often than not. Right?)
