Fit Friday: Bootcamp with Stations and Tabatas!

January 8, 2016 By Shanell Leave a Comment

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We’re back at it! It’s January which means it’s time to start working on those fitness goals. I know you’ve got them…we all do. This mornings bootcamp class DID NOT disappoint. It was a great workout with great company. Click HERE for a downloadable PDF version of today’s workout and watch the video below for a brief demonstration of each move. Oh, and please excuse the presence of my baby belly sticking out every now and then…I need to buy some new workout shirts that actually fit. Ha!

First we started with a nice warm up, took a 40 sec rest, then moved into our 6 different stations. We performed each exercise for 1 full minute, took a 15 second break and rotated to the next exercise. After completing all 6 we had another 40 second rest before moving into our first round of Tabatas.

Tabatas are where you perform a specific exercise for 20 seconds, then rest for 10 seconds, repeating the same exercise 8 times. This morning we did A/B Tabatas which means you have two different exercises and switch back and forth between the two for the full 8 rounds. So for example we did right side planks for the first 20 seconds, took a 10 second rest, then did left side planks for the next 20 seconds, took another 10 second rest, then the right side again and so on.

After a round of Tabata we went back to the 6 different stations and completed another full round of those, took another 40 second rest and went straight into our second round of Tabata: calf raises (outward for the first 4 20 second intervals, and inward for the last 4 20 second intervals.)

After resting we went back to the stations one last time then ended with a nice cool down and stretch session. It was awesome and I wish EVERYONE could come to bootcamp! It’s fun for me, fun for the kids, plus a GREAT workout!

Let me know if you have any questions!

XOXO

Hi, I’m Shanell!

Hi, I'm Shanell!
As a wife and a busy mom of 3, I believe in real life: busy days, messy hair, dirty dishes and sticky fingers. I also believe life can be a 'real' blessing if we take time to enjoy it. I find that I enjoy it most when I make 'real' food, workout 'real' hard, and study 'real' truth. So, this is me, trying to be Shanell, for real.
